Bills and Accounts Tracker

Use this page to track bills, subscriptions, utilities, autopay, credit cards, insurance, housing, and account questions. Do not close, transfer, or cancel accounts unless you have authority or the provider tells you what they need.

Important: Take things one step at a time.

Do not rush to cancel utilities, shared lines, home phone, security systems, or financial accounts. Keeping some services active can protect the home, preserve communication, and avoid account problems. Before closing accounts, moving funds, or stopping payments, ask the company what authority or documents they need.

Privacy note

Do not write full account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, PINs, security answers, or private identity numbers here. Use short notes like “electric bill found” or “called bank, waiting for documents.” Keep this sheet stored securely.

  3. Ask each company what document or authority they need before sending anything.
  4. Track the next step and date so tasks do not live only in your head.

Who has authority?

Some companies may only speak with a surviving spouse, joint account holder, executor, trustee, beneficiary, or court-authorized person. Ask what document they need before sending anything.

If you are a joint account holder, you may already have authority to manage the account. Ask the company what documents they need from you.
